Privacy Policy

Smooth Sailing is built to collect as little as possible. This explains what's stored and where.

What we store

• On your device (localStorage): your boats, routes, selected region, sidebar layout, and onboarding state. This stays in your browser and is never sent to us unless you create an account.
• If you create an account: your email address, an optional display name, and the boats and routes you choose to sync. These are stored in our database provider (Supabase) and are protected so that only you can read your own rows.
• If you subscribe to a paid feature: payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details; we store only a subscription status and a Stripe customer reference.

Analytics

We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first: it uses no cookies and does not fingerprint or track you across sites. It reports aggregate page views only.

Data sent to third parties

When you plan a trip, your browser requests forecasts, tides, and currents directly from NOAA / the National Weather Service, and seamark and map data from OpenStreetMap / CARTO. These requests come from your device and are subject to those providers' own policies.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data.
• We don't use advertising trackers.
• We don't share your saved boats or routes with anyone.

Cookies

We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. If you sign in, an authentication token is kept in your browser's local storage to keep you logged in.

Deleting your data

You can clear device data by clearing your browser storage for this site. To delete your account and the boats/routes synced to it, email us and we'll remove them.
